AERAlpha Epsilon Rho

One appointment stands between us and an active chapter.

Alpha Epsilon Rho needs one college employee as advisor. Co‑advising is welcome, the time commitment is flexible, and students handle the operational work. Here is the role without the sales pitch.

Why the chapter needs one

Phi Theta Kappa requires a college employee to be formally appointed as chapter advisor. The advisor certifies which students are eligible for membership and serves as the chapter’s liaison to Society headquarters — so without that appointment, a chapter cannot issue invitations or hold a valid officer election, no matter how organized its students are.

Our previous advisor’s position was eliminated in budget cuts this summer. That is the only thing standing between forty‑seven years of chapter history and an active 2026–27 chapter.

Four duties, published by the Society

Certify member eligibility

Confirm which students meet the chapter’s membership requirements, using data the college already holds.

Submit chapter reports

File through the Phi Theta Kappa Advisor Dashboard. We assemble everything the report needs beforehand.

Approve chapter activities

Sign off on projects, budgets, and events as the college requires.

Serve as liaison

Act as the point of contact between the chapter and Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters.

Bellevue College’s annual student‑organization recognition separately requires at least one faculty or staff advisor. Co‑advisors are explicitly allowed and encouraged, so two people can split the role.

All of it, unless you want otherwise.

This is where advisor time usually disappears on a poorly‑run club. The organizing team handles every item here.

Meetings & records

Agendas, minutes, scheduling, room bookings, attendance, officer follow‑up.

Projects & events

Research, project tracking, event logistics, volunteer coordination, award drafting.

Communications

Routine email, recruitment outreach, the interest list, and this website.

Reporting prep

We gather everything a report needs, so your part is review and submission.

A draft, not a schedule

These times are a starting point only. The actual schedule gets set around our advisor’s availability, and an advisor is not expected at every meeting listed.

Proposed for 2026–27. Not confirmed, and subject to the advisor’s availability.

A short, honest note

We know advising a student organization is a real commitment on top of a full workload, and we know we are asking in a year when workloads got heavier. Co‑advising is genuinely fine. A lighter arrangement where you handle certification and reporting while students run everything else is genuinely fine. If you are interested but unsure about the time, tell us what you can give and we will build around it.
