Our advisor’s position was eliminated in budget cuts this summer, and Phi Theta Kappa requires an appointed college advisor before a chapter can verify membership eligibility or formally elect officers. Until that appointment happens we cannot issue invitations — so we are recruiting an advisor, building the interest list, and planning this year’s research project in the meantime. An honor society chapter, not a new club.

Phi Theta Kappa is the first and largest honor society for students at two‑year colleges — more than 4.3 million members and roughly 1,300 chapters across 11 nations, organized around four hallmarks: scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.

Alpha Epsilon Rho has carried that at Bellevue College since 1979.

Scholarships & recognition

More than 800 four‑year institutions offer transfer scholarships specifically to members, alongside the Society’s own competitive and need‑based awards.

Leadership & research

Chapters run a Honors in Action project each year: choose a theme, do real academic research, then design an action that answers what the research found.

Service & community

Campus projects, regional conferences through the Greater Northwest Region, and a cohort of students who take their coursework seriously.

Transfer scholarships follow members

Research first. Then action.

The Society’s guidance is explicit that research informs action, and that ideas for action should not determine the research. Our subcommittee has not selected a theme or a research question yet — and we would rather show an honest empty section than reverse‑engineer a question to justify a project we already picked.

A chapter this old shouldn’t end on a budget line.

Add your name and we will reach out the moment the chapter can invite members. Nothing here commits you to anything.
